In the quarter Reigersborg in Hoogkarspel Between Heaven and Earth is situated. Between Heaven and Earth is a series of bridges inspired by the polder landscape. A landscape with infinite views where land and air become one. The Dutch sky has been an inspiration for centuries for painters and other artists. Between Heaven and Earth is a tribute to the views and the colour spectrum of the flat land.
The three bridges show a time span from sunrise to sunset with colour ranges that vary from indigo to bright yellow. Every railing consists of twenty-one glass sheets made out of three layers with horizontal coloured foil strips in between. The result of the different layers of glass is a three-dimensional effect between the different colours. Every sheet has a different patron and a different colour pallet. With the sun shining on the glass a reflection appears on the road and the water.
